White Bengal Tiger

All the present-day captive population of these animals is the offspring of the male called Mohad that was caught in 1951 in India. Kittens with unique coat color appered only after inbreeding. The price of the beauty was very high, as such color is somehow related to many genetic disorders, such as short lifespan, crossed eyes, curved spine and many others. Breeding with normal orange animals reduces the chances of producing rare kittens, but increases the chances of getting offspring free from breeding depressions.

White Bengal Tiger -
picture, conservation
Such animals are not albinos; they are the offspring of Bengal tigers that carry a special gene for such color. Only one cub out of 10,000 is born with such a coat color. In captivity, these animals are produced by inbreeding. Such animals are very expensive; it is a matter of prestige to own such an animal in the zoo or in private possession. The prices for them reach up to $60,000. In the 18th and 19th centuries owning such animals was very popular among the royalty.
