Since White Tigers are rare animals it is not surprising that they are considered an endangered species. Uncontrolled felling of trees, decrease of preys, poaching and some other factors are the major reasons why the populations of White tigers are endangered. The conservation efforts of many organizations are aimed
towards saving the White tiger from extinction.
White Tigers - Hunting
White tigers prefer to hunt in the coolest hours of the day. It is usually the time between sunset and dawn. They are nocturnal animals. White tigers hunt for their food under the cover of dense vegetation. Their hunting manner is to stalk their prey silently in a low crouch until it draws closer to its quarry. The White tiger then knocks its victim over with a swipe of its powerful forepaw.
White tigers never sneak up on their prey in the same direction as the wind blows. The prey can hear the tiger's approach and smell the tiger's scent. The White tiger bites the back of the victim's neck with its powerful jaws. Having killed its prey, the Bengal White tiger tends to drag the carcass under some cover. White tigers need to eat about 40 pounds of meat a day. Every night, these animals cover up to 12 miles in search of prey. White tigers are extremely strong animals and usually attack wild ox, and buffalo.
